#13 Girl, Talk!
Psalm 51: 1-4 Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight.
You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. NLT
James 5:16 “Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.”
So, check it! You wanna know the Biggest secret I’ve learned on my journey to being made whole?! (that I’m still on…lol! aren’t we all?!) I had to OWN my faults, mistakes, and failures FIRST to fully release them. I had to be open, and completely vulnerable to God before I could begin to share with those around me, but BOTH are absolutely needed in process! I get it though, it hurts! It touches our pride, and forces us to look in a mirror at ourselves. But no matter how much makeup we have on, we can’t cover up what we know and see for real!
GIVE. IT. UP! Because, ummmm…often times we feel exposed already! In the MSG version it reads “erase this deep stain on my conscience.”
Unfortunately, ignoring this first step forfeits our entire journey to a healed and whole heart!
David felt exposed and convicted, and because of it, he had a repented heart and was ready to confess. (Confess: to own or admit as true, to make confession plead guilty; own – from dictionary.com)
The thing about it is we DEFLEE will not just have to do this just one time! I know, I know…my bad boo! lol! This faith walk is constantly asking us to look within to be searched and purged (Psalm 139:23-24) to be more Christlike.
And getchu’ some girlfriends to go to the restroom with! You know how we do! It’s rare we go to a public restroom alone when we’re out having a good time and before we leave the restroom we are in the mirror doing “checks” with each other! We need that spiritually! Someone we can be open, vulnerable, and confide in. The world tells us women can’t be in fellowship; that we’re jealous and envious of each other! If we as women push this lie aside, we can embrace truth of being each others catalyst into our individual destiny that’s part of a greater plan!
As you glossin’, take that moment to look in the mirror and really ask God what you’re to release. Take inventory of your heart and secret sin. Then invite your sister to look with you, one you can trust and will walk with you.
